See it listed as both a model 1905 & 1906. 1 It is virtually identical to the Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket, which was based on the same John Browning prototype, and was the inspiration for FN's. Imagine with all it's machined made parts & high degree of finishing, this would be a very expensive handgun to make today. The FN Model 1905 (from its patent date) or FN Model 1906 (in European countries due to its date of manufacture) was a pistol manufactured by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal from 1906 to 1959. G and GL series, semiautomatic rifles, imported by Browning Arms Company. It is a well made pistol with internals that look like new. dated subsequent to 1945 or bearing postwar Italian proof marks. Strange considering the internet says about 1 million were made. Just cannot seem to find anything on this pistol's markings. Only Heinrich Walter of WW2 era I could find was,Heinrich-Walter Bronsart von Schellendorff. Any ideas what these additional markings mean? For the $199 purchase price, I bought a nice shooter to digest some of the hundreds of rounds of 25 ACP ammo I have, but it would be interesting to find out some more. Pistol is serial number 74687, 7.65 m/m and bears the three waffenamts used during their production of the 1922 pistol.
The dealer said it was one of 3 bring back handguns brought in by a WW2 veteran. One of two C&R pistols recently acquired, an interesting German occupation FN Browning 1922. My local gun shop was having a 100 new and used handgun sale.
